| Very good performance from the Reds in the first pre-season game. You couldn't tell who was the Football League club, especially in the first half when we played some excellent passing football. |

Agree. We were better team throughout especially in the 1st half.
Seasons past we would have had our 1st pre season at a much lower club such as Sutton Town or Gedling and we would have looked rough against very poor opposition. This time we play League 2 Chesterfield and we looked polished and fit and played some superb passing football and some superb skill on the ball. I think this is because we have kept the same team that finished last season in champions form.
Well done all.
Also well done to those who have worked on the ground during the summer. The new covered terrace is superb. _________________ Help find Madeleine McCann. For more info go to - www.findmadeleine.com |

Agreed, a stranger wouldnt have been able to tell which were the professional team. We totally outplayed them, bossed the midfield and would have won comfortably if it hadnt been for a defensive lapse, which, we are bound to have from time to time, but we did have a couple in the game and I think it could only be these that will stop us from achieving promotion this time. |

I know you shouldn't read too much into friendlies, but it was a good work out against a league outfit, although Chesterfield looked no better than BSP level at best. None of their players would have stood out in a red shirt
Thought the 2 new guys looked promising in the 1st half
Can only take so many friendlies, though, as they lack that competitive edge. Bring on 14 August!!! |
